At the age of 16, Jimmy Kim started off by washing cars at a local dealership. With hard work and drive, he soon became one of the youngest General Managers in the country by the age of 25. In 2008, when General Motors declared Bankruptcy, Jimmy decided that was his sign to start a new career path.
Being tired of working 80+ hours for someone else, he eventually turned to the internet, where he started his journey as a digital marketer. As a digital marketer, he found a passion in email marketing and automation, leading him to co-found Sendlane.
The initial creation of the platform was simply for personal use as digital marketers in their own businesses. The goal for the Sendlane founders was to create an email marketing platform that would be simple enough for anyone to use, but designed for digital marketers who actually lived and breathed email marketing.
After heavy demand, Jimmy and his two co-founders decided to open the platform to the public and on Jan 1st, 2015, Sendlane’s doors were officially open, as a side project/business.
Over the next few years, the Sendlane founders leveraged their influence and knowledge to create features that they themselves wanted or needed in their own businesses and found a direct necessity to their users.
In August of 2017, Jimmy decided his “side business” had become more than just a side business. He dissolved and/or sold his other businesses and jumped feet first into Sendlane.
